Lessons have been assigned to them based on their diagnostic test results both in Math and Reading. Within each lesson are brain break games. The district is pushing a goal of 45 minutes per week on Online Lessons in ELA and 45 minutes per week in Math to close the gaps found in the diagnostic. Math and ELA are providing some of that time during the week, but not all.
WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Kodu Game Lab! Kodu lets students create games via a simple visual programming language. Kodu is used to teach creativity, problem solving, storytelling, as well as programming.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: Computer Science and coding help nurture problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity. By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any 21st-century career path.
HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: This week you will complete Kodu Tutorials and give feedback as instructed!

Add a second path and have another object follow that path!
Add a Flora path (use the path tool and select Flora Path)
Add more scoring by adding Apples and change the game to end when MORE points are scored.
After Kodu collects two Coins, Kodu gets missiles to fire back.
Program the Coins to wander around or even run from Kodu!
Change the color of some coins, then program Kodu so those color coins are worth more points!
Add another Canon to make the game more difficult. (use the same coding as the saucer to shoot missles)
Increase the size of the city.
Place hazards (like water or pits) that will damage Kodu when touched.
Add a countdown timer that ends the game — Saucer wins if no coins are collected.
Add a Power Up that briefly turns Kodu invisible to the Saucer.
Limit where Saucer may roam — provide a safe area to take a rest.
Increase the Saucer’s movement speed but decrease its missile speed
Add other objects for Kodu to pick up and give point values
Add Landscape items (rocks, trees etc)
